Control Systems Engineer – Robotics (m/f/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Munich

Job description

About Us

At Omegga, we’re on a mission to reinvent how AI and science can drive positive change for animals, people and the planet. Outdated practices still impact billions of lives, and we’re here to change that.
Five years ago, we began in the poultry industry with a bold idea: use breakthrough AI-powered spectroscopy to revolutionise the industry by identifying chick gender before hatching to spare billions of male chicks.
With the support of our customers, investors and the European Commission, we are ready for the next chapter in poultry while exploring new applications. Join us and help shape a future where innovation drives meaningful change.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of the electrical control architecture of our robotic systems.
You will design and implement control cabinets, integrate motion and PLC systems, and ensure reliable operation in real industrial environments. This is a hands-on role in a deep tech startup, working closely with robotics, embedded, mechanical, and software teams to build robust and scalable automation systems.
Your mission
  • Own the control cabinet design: plan, dimension, and design electrical control cabinets for robotic systems, including power distribution, protection, and motion control components.
  • Integrate motion and automation systems: select and integrate servo drives, PLCs, safety components, and industrial communication systems into a coherent control architecture.
  • Ensure reliability and compliance: design systems that meet industrial standards (e.g. EN 60204-1), functional safety requirements, and are robust in real-world industrial environments.
  • Drive documentation and commissioning support: create clear electrical documentation (schematics, BOMs, terminal plans) and support commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our robotics platforms.
Your profile
  • Degree or technical training in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a comparable field
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in control cabinet design within machine or plant engineering
  • Experience designing and integrating control cabinets for automation systems, including power distribution, protection concepts, and control components
  • Experience working with servo drive systems, motion control architectures, and industrial communication systems such as EtherCAT, Profinet, or CANopen
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical standards (e.g. EN 60204-1), grounding, protection, and functional safety concepts
  • Experience using CAE tools (e.g. EPLAN or comparable) to create schematics, BOMs, and technical documentation
  • Ability to collaborate closely with robotics, PLC, and embedded teams during system integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting

    Nice to Have

    1. Experience working with robotic systems, servo motion control, or multi-axis automation platforms
    2. Experience implementing functional safety concepts and working with safety PLCs or safety-rated motion systems
Why us?
  • Mission-driven team: At Omegga, you’re not just an employee, you’re part of a purpose-led journey, working on a solution with a tangible global impact.
  • Relocation Support: Fully furnished, affordable apartment within 3 minutes walking distance of the office (up to 6 months).
  • VSOPs: Above average company participation package
  • Modern Work Environment: A beautiful office in Munich’s Werksviertel, with up to 50% remote work.
  • Perks: Monthly voucher where you can choose between 100+ partners (e.g., Urban Sports, D-Ticket, REWE, Rossmann, IKEA).
  • Competitive Salary: Market-aligned compensation recognising your skills and contributions.
  • Vacation: 28 paid vacation days per year.
